AVMA/AVMF 2nd Opportunity Summer Research Stipend

The AVMA/AVMF 2nd Opportunity Summer Research Stipend is intended to provide support for currently enrolled veterinary students who have previously conducted a summer research project and are seeking to gain a second summer of research experience.

Each of the five recipients will receive a $7,500 research stipend plus $1,000 to supplement travel expenses to the Veterinary Scholars Symposium.

Eligibility

• Must have previously conducted a summer research project and are seeking to gain a second summer of research experience.
• Ideally, student applicants would be continuing their prior research project but that is not an absolute requirement.
• Abstract of their results for presentation at the NIH Veterinary Scholars Symposium required.
• Must not hold a graduate degree or be enrolled in a graduate degree program.
• The student must be enrolled at AVMA-Council on Education accredited school of veterinary medicine where the research project will be conducted.

Timeline

• Applications accepted October 1 – October 31, 2024.
• Each school may forward one applicant for consideration for this program by October 31, 2024.
• Applicants will be notified of acceptance by early December 2024.
