Bobby and Abi: Growing old together

Bobby was an older dog who was taken in by Abi, an elderly member of the community living alone on a small income. When an infection left the Australian Cattle Dog unable to eat without pain, a charitable care grant created a win-win outcome.

Abi’s relationship with Bobby provided them both an opportunity for companionship. But when Bobby developed a painful lump on the side of his jaw, Abi’s inability to pay for treatment almost tore them apart. An abscess had formed, likely due to being poked by something while chewing.

Thanks to donations made by members of the community, Bobby was treated and is again living comfortably with his best friend.

The AVMF REACH Program™ exists to help veterinarians provide the best care for all animals, at any time and in any town. We can’t do it without generous gifts from those who want the best for all animals, regardless of their owner’s financial means. If you’d like to support this program with a tax-deductible gift, select “AVMF REACH Program” from the “I want to support” dropdown menu on the gift form.

Thank you for helping us REACH as many animals in need as possible!

This program is supported in part by PURINA through the ProPlan Veterinary Support Mission.
