AVMF Contributions in Action

Helping animals in critical need due to wildfires

CAVMRC

(November 1, 2021) Thanks to our generous donors, the AVMF has been able to provide support to the California Veterinary Medical Reserve Corps (CAVMRC), helping animals in critical need due to wildfires. Having deployed to several major California wildfires during the past decade, CAVMRC has provided free veterinary care to the hundreds of displaced dogs, cats, birds, horses, and other animals in emergency shelters during declared disasters.

In 2020 and 2021, the AVMF provided $20,000 to help with CAVMRC efforts. “Without the help of friends like the American Veterinary Medical Foundation (AVMF), the CAVMRC would not be able to help animals in need. We appreciate the AVMF’s support!” - Grant Miller, DVM, Director of Regulatory Affairs, California VMA

As an AVMF donor, your gifts provide the resources to assist veterinarians and other animal care providers when natural disasters occur. When hurricanes, floods, fires, or other natural disasters strike around the world, the AVMF is prepared to respond with the resources to care for animals and those who are providing that care. Generous donors like you helped raise over $50,000 during the month of September to be directed to help those impacted by hurricanes, flooding, and wildfires across the country. Grants are available to AVMA members to help with disaster relief.
