AVMA member veterinarians who provide charitable veterinary care for dogs and service animals of military veterans may be eligible to apply for a grant through AVMF. Thanks to the Harold Wetterberg Foundation and generous donors, financial support is available to help with the cost of veterinary medical treatment when a pet owner is a military veteran.
- Be a current AVMA member veterinarian – pet owners are not eligible to apply.
- Have provided treatment of illness or conditions requiring immediate veterinary medical care to an animal whose owner is a military veteran
- Grant requests up to $1,000.
The Harold Wetterberg Foundation has limited this program to dogs and professionally trained service animals. AVMF is not able to approve any grant through this program outside of those parameters as we must follow the donor intentions in the utilization of these funds. Funds are limited and will be distributed as they are available.
