AVMF is committed to helping offset the cost of veterinary medical education. Donations support outstanding veterinary students who are addressing the health and research needs of society – both today and tomorrow.
"My deepest appreciation and gratitude goes to the American Veterinary Medical Foundation for receiving an AVMF Scholarship Award. I feel so excited and humbled to be able to pursue what I love, and to be able to strive towards my personal and professional goals while enhancing my veterinary education. I can't begin to express my gratitude to the AVMF donors for their endless support of the veterinary profession."
-Tereza Chylkova, AVMF Scholarship Recipient, DVM Candidate, University of California, Davis, Class of 2017
The American Veterinary Medical Foundation’s Student Enhancement initiative is one way we act to preserve and improve the health and well-being of animals. We believe that by investing in the education of America's veterinary students we play a role in ensuring that future veterinarians have the skills and training necessary to treat our pets, safeguard our food supply and protect public health.
We make an impact on veterinary students by empowering them to achieve their goals in veterinary medicine and by recognizing and rewarding individuals who have made extraordinary accomplishments in their education. Our goal is to build a relationship with veterinary students that lasts a lifetime.
Veterinary student scholarships and grants are awarded on varying criteria that includes academic excellence, leadership, diversity and financial need. Final decisions on all awards are based on recommendations from the AVMF's Grants and Awards Sub-committee on Student Scholarships.

"The generous gift from the Harold Wetterberg Foundation Scholarship will allow me to pursue a career in pathology with an aim to focus in public health. It will greatly mitigate my expenses towards my Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine, allowing me to pursue my interests openly. I aim to return to New Jersey to develop my career and am excited to give back to the community that has fostered my passion in veterinary medicine. I hope to one day reciprocate the support you have generously provided me to others in the community."

"I am incredibly honored and grateful to receive the AVMF/Merck Animal Health Scholarship. As the first person to go to college and pursue a graduate degree in my family, the financial constraints have been huge. This scholarship will help alleviate some of the financial burdens that I face in the present and future and your assistance means so much to me. I want to truly thank you for supporting my efforts to obtain my VMD degree and pursue what I love!"
